My Career History
I started my career as a nurse, qualifying in 1992 at North Hampshire NHS Trust (known then as Basingstoke District Hospital). I worked as a Staff Nurse and progressed to a Team Leader in areas such as surgery, urology and gynaecology. However, my heart always followed midwifery.
I started my midwifery degree in 1995 at Thames Valley University , Ealing and qualified as a midwife in February 1997. I worked in all areas of midwifery, antenatal clinic, labour ward, antenatal and postnatal wards. I then I became a community midwife for 6 years and practised team midwifery. We delivered our clients at home or in hospital. The continuity of care was fabulous for both the midwives and mother's point of view. We ran our own antenatal classes too.
I moved back to Hampshire in 2001 and for the past 10 years I have remained at Ealing Hospital NHS Trust, working part time. I set up, coordinate and teach the Parent Education sessions for the hospital or I work on labour ward. I love them both, and feel I excel in my profession. I deal with high and low risk pregnancies.
I am caring, honest, practical and down to earth, and realistic in my discussions, but I am also a lot of fun !! I aim to make you feel relaxed, calm and at ease at this special time. No question is a silly one. My son, Thomas is now 11 yrs old, and I still work with the midwife who delivered him.
